Two Great Farmers’ Markets in Cochrane

Farmers’ markets keep growing in popularity and it’s easy to see why- the fresh and local goodies are enticing, and a trip to the market is a great way to get outdoors for some fresh air. With all of the options of fresh produce and the benefits of buying locally so you know where your food comes from, farmers’ markets are a win-win for everyone. Here are two local options for a great Saturday or Sunday visit.

The Cochrane Farmers Market

This market is open on Saturdays from 9:30am to 1:30pm through September 26th. You can find it at the Historic Cochrane Ranche site north of Highway 1A just west of downtown. The beautiful site provides for a shady visit, perfect for those bright summer mornings.

The Cochrane Farmers Market is now in its 17th year of operation, and continues to grow each year. As an added bonus, the market is entirely run by volunteers and is sponsored by the Cochrane Environmental Action Committee.

The Bearspaw Lions Farmers Market

If Sundays are your preferred day to head to the market, join the nearly 100 vendors at the Bearspaw Lions Farmers Market from 10:00am to 2:00pm every Sunday until the first Sunday in October. The Bearspaw Lions Farmers Market is located on the property of the Bearspaw Lions Hall on Nagway Road.

The Bearspaw Lions Farmers Market has been operating since 1993 and continues to generate great revenues for its vendors and stimulate the local community. The Bearspaw Lions Club also donates part of the proceeds to charitable causes such as the Red Cross and the Cancer Society.

Having trouble deciding which great market to visit this weekend? It’s sure that no matter which market you end up visiting, you will have a memorable experience that makes you want to keep coming back for more!
