With the change of seasons, should come the change of clutter! While you are digging for all those warm, winter clothes; why not throw out the summer ones that either don't fit or are soiled? Ask any professional organizer, and that will be the main topic of conversation.

  • Step 1: Make three bins and use them; labelled keep, toss, and donate. The logic works. The Red Cross, Salvation Army, and many other charities will gladly take any donated items. Let your unworn clothing be used by someone who really needs it and has no other way to obtain a new wardrobe. Gently used items will surely bring a smile on someone's face.
  • Step 2: Shelves and cubicles can store a lot of items that have been thrown in a bundle on the top shelf of the closet. You can purchase them at most retail department stores.
  • Step 3: Sort the clothes. This can be done in several ways depending on what style you use; for business or pleasure. You can also sort with all black pants, all white shirts, all coloured shirts, and so forth. You get the idea. Place the most used items directly in front of your view.
  • Step 4: Put some light on the clothes. That special jacket or pair of shoes got shoved to the side or back of the closet; you could not find it anywhere. It has been hiding in the darkness. Adding a bit of light will eliminate that issue!
  • Step5: Get some new clothes hangers. If you have the same type of hanger, all the clothes will be nice and neat. Install some hooks on the wall for those belts and purses. Maybe a metal or plastic container to place the yoga mat or umbrellas off the floor or shelf would give more space saving features.

You have the right focus now. With some of these hints, your closet will bring you the enjoyment of finding the special outfit when the time is short. You will always be elegantly dressed and your closet will have a personality of its own. You will see!
