Life goes on in Cochrane, despite any apparent economic woes.  Many new communities and Cochrane facilities are on the docket this year, whether in the planning stage, already in full construction mode or scheduled to be completed this year.  Here’s what’s on the menu for the Town of Cochrane’s planning and engineering department:

Southbow Landing

The neighbourhood plan for this new community was approved by Town Council last October.  However, council would like to see the developer do some additional work around transportation in the south end of town before they grant a land use permit.  That additional work includes upgrades to Highway 22 at James Walker and providing funding for a bridge which needs to be constructed in the Cochrane community

Pipes can freeze and burst over the winter. If you’re leaving your home fore the holidays, the last thing you want to come home to is a flood in your basement.  No heat, no water, no rest for the weary.

One thing you can control is the maintenance of your home and the amount of insurance you have to prepare for catastrophic water events in your home.

A residential home in the Cochrane community of Sunset Ridge that was designated as a fire hall is being returned to private use.

The Town of Cochrane announced that it will be removing the signs placed on the home at 4 Sunset Square as it has received notice from a new owner that it must vacate.

When the neighbourhood was being developed, the Town had made a deal with the developer to lease the home at a nominal price for the purpose of having firefighting facilities close at hand, similar to an arrangement in the Calgary community of Hidden Valley.

There were no long-range plans put into place when the lease was formalized in 2008 and the plan to turn the home into a fire station was never actualized.

First, the definition of condo is up for debate.  The term “condominium” refers to a type of ownership.  The actual, physical condo can be either a townhouse or an apartment-style condo.  These are the styles of condominium.

What’s best for you comes down to your lifestyle, your budget and examining the differences between what you want and what you really need. For example, if you have a family with one or

The population of Cochrane has nearly doubled since the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre was first constructed.

Curb appeal is extremely important when selling your home. If you see a house that is unkempt and ugly on the outside, chances are you won’t want to even go inside. Here are some tips to help boost your curb appeal so you can get your house sold.

Clean the Siding

This is something that should be done once a year and if you have neglected to wash your siding for some time, then you could be stuck with a house that won’t sell. You can use soap and water to get rid of any grime, but if it’s not coming off quickly then you can use a pressure washer.
